With the holiday season upon us, there's plenty to keep you busy with family, or maybe to take a break away from all those family gatherings.
Edmonton
If you're in the holiday spirit, visit the Edmonton Expo Centre until Jan. 4, 2020 for Glow Around the World. A seasonal installation event featuring millions of lights in the Light Gardens, visit Santa in his grotto, all the while look for those last-minute gifts in the Vendor Market.
If theatre is your thing. Experience the Yuletide production of A Christmas Carol until Dec. 23, 2019 at the Maclab Theatre.

Saskatoon
Stick to the suburbs and enjoy all the light displays Saskatoon has to offer. Known as the Clinkskill Christmas Lights, this display dances to music which can be broadcast over 89.7 fm. If that isn't a talking point over dinner, I'm not sure what is.
More lights are on display at one of the longest-running light shows in Canada. Visit the 21st annual Holiday Light Tour at the BHP Enchanted Forest. Drive through, and see over one million lights, nightly from 5:30 p.m. till 10 p.m.
Medicine Hat
The Medicine Hat Public Library is screening Christmas films all season long. Catch Home Alone on Dec. 23, The Santa Claus on Dec. 24, and Smallfoot on Dec. 30. Also, see National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation at The Monarch Theatre on Dec. 21, winning a viewing-poll ahead of Die Hard and It's A Wonderful Life.
Looking to get crafty or squeeze in some last-minute shopping? Visit the aptly-named Last Minute Local Craft and Christmas Trade Show on Saturday Dec. 21 from 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. at the Canalta Centre.
Dec. 20 head down to the YMCA for the 2019 Annual Staff and Volunteer Holiday Celebration. Use the facilities, play fun games and mingle, all with supper from Skinny's included. Families are welcome and tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite.
