Avenue Living Communities raised 7,193 pounds of food (about the weight of a hippopotamus) that positively supported those who needed it most over the holiday season. From Nov. 13 - Dec. 8, the Avenue Giving Food Drive engaged with our residents and team members to encourage donations of non-perishable food and monetary funds to make a collective impact in local communities.

Along with fundraising and collecting donations, Avenue Living Communities also generously contributed one dollar for every pound of food collected and matched all monetary donations. This resulted in 3,985 pounds of non-perishable food items and $10,266 dollars being donated to local food banks across the Prairies.

Tara Main, Vice President of Marketing at Avenue Living Communities says, “the undeniable truth is that food prices have significantly risen in recent years. Two million visits to the food bank last year alone marked a staggering 32 per cent increase since March of 2023. Perhaps most disheartening was the fact that children made up approximately one-third of these users.

However, in the face of this challenging reality, our communities rallied together, and our recent Food Drive stands as a testament to the collective compassion and generosity that defines us. With every contribution, no matter how small, we made a significant impact on those who are struggling to put food on the table for themselves and their families.

Through this unity and shared commitment, we helped ensure they had adequate nourishment for the holiday season. The success of this campaign helped us truly come together and make a meaningful difference for those who need it most.”
