AN UPDATE ON AVENUE LIVING'S COMMUNITY TASK FORCE – HELPING RESIDENTS DURING THIS TRYING TIME
The ALC Community Task Force has been established by Avenue Living Communities to help residents that have been impacted by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, with their day-to-day needs.
Spencer Calvin, Marketing and Community Relations Coordinator for the company, said the task force was set up to assist residents in various ways.
"We realize that this is such a difficult and uncertain time," said Calvin. "We're trying to provide that little helping hand to our residents who have been hit hardest by the pandemic. Not only does Avenue Living Communities provide housing, we really want to ensure our living spaces are a safe and healthy environment for our residents."
The task force has been rolled out across Avenue Living's portfolio, which includes about 10,000 homes for more than 20,000 residents. The portfolio stretches across 19 markets in the Prairie provinces.
Calvin said an email address has been set up at COVID-19@avenueliving.ca and the company has instructed residents to send their requests for help to this email address. If, for some reason, they are unable to go to a grocery store to get food or they are immobile and have other needs, Avenue Living will provide assistance.
"We have been hearing from people who are in isolation due to being high-risk. We are able to be a bridge for them to essential services such as grocery collection, especially for Seniors who are not as mobile, as an example," explained Calvin.
The local community team then contacts the resident to find out what they need and provide as much assistance as possible.
Calvin said he expects the response to the task force will grow in the coming days and weeks, as more and more people become aware of this Avenue Living initiative.
"We're really trying to help as much as we can," added Calvin, "both with physical and mental support."
