On April 1, Avenue Living Communities is changing its renters insurance provider from BFL to Sharp Insurance.
What should you do?
If you hold a current renters insurance policy with BFL through Avenue Living Communities, on the week of April 5, you will be receiving an enrollment email from Sharp Insurance, to create your account and log into their resident portal where you will be able to access your new insurance certificate.
If your email address is not on file with Avenue Living Communities, or you do not wish to have digital access, you can call your local Sharp Insurance, where they will be able to print a copy for you.
If you have any questions related to your insurance, including coverage questions after April 1, please contact Sharp Insurance.

If you have a new insurance claim after April 1, you will need to contact an insurance adjuster at the claim's provider, Crawford Claims. Your policy number will be the same as your resident number for Avenue Living Communities. You can find your resident number on the top of any personalized mail you have received from us.

If you currently have an open claim, please continue working with your current adjuster, this change will not impact its status.
As always, while maintaining insurance is a requirement of your lease, whom you purchase your insurance from is a personal choice, and you are always welcome to obtain your own insurance that better suites your personal needs.
What prompted the change?
From time to time, we review our strategic partnerships, and have recently competed a review our Renters Insurance program. While the BFL program has value, we felt that it was time to change providers, to provide you, our residents with a more responsive and flexible insurance program.
We believe that our new sponsored insurance program achieves a good balance of coverage with more responsive claims service, at a reasonable price while fulfilling your lease requirements in a convenient transaction that we help with.
