Calgary Tower
Once the tallest building in North America, the Calgary Tower now stands as the premier location to observe the city's skyline. At 190 meters tall, this panoramic viewing platform features a slowly revolving restaurant in the sky that provides great sights of both the metropolitan horizons and the Rocky Mountains.
Stampede
This 10-day festival in July is the most anticipated time of the year for both residence and tourists alike. Bringing out the cowboy in all of us, the Calgary Stampede features rodeos, midway games and live music from some of the world's greatest entertainers. This is an event you definitely don't want to miss.
Flames
If you're a sports fan, a Calgary Flames NHL game is a must-see. The Scotiabank Saddledome, which is their home stadium located in the heart of the city, is absolutely electrifying when the boys are in town. From October to April, throw on a jersey and come cheer on the Flames with the rest of the C of Red.
Calgary Zoo
At almost 100 years old, the Calgary Zoo is the second largest in North America and is the home to over 1000 exotic animals. For about $30, you're able to spend the day interacting with various wildlife and take part in various weekly activities and programs for a truly unique zoo experience.
Studio Bell
We can assure you that this is not your ordinary museum. Studio Bell is the home to the National Music Centre, Canada's largest music-related exhibition. You'll be mesmerized by the building's beautiful architecture as you take a stroll through five-floors of music history. See the Hall of Fame, listen to music at the performance hall or even learn to play yourself with various video tutorials; Studio Bell is a music lover's paradise.
Prince's Island Park
Situated right in the downtown core, Prince's Island Park sits on the beautiful Bow River and is the ideal location to take in the city's stunning landscape. The site is used for many large festivals throughout the year and is perfect for hikes, picnics or even canoe rides down the river itself.
Big Rock Brewery
If you're over 18 you need to visit Big Rock, Canada's largest craft brewery. Take a directed tour around their location in Calgary to get a behind-the-scenes look at how everything's made from the hand-crafting brewing, to the packing and distribution. Oh and of course, there's beer sampling on the tours as well.
