avenue living employees ran or walked in over 19 races last year through the launch of our inaugural fitness program, Redefining My Impossible. The result of this program? Over $12,000 raised for charity and a sense of boosted companionship and confidence around the office, all deserved rewards after running a cumulative distance of thousands of kilometers!

With a new year brings new initiatives, goals and of course rewards. This year, avenue living is launching their new corporate fitness program, The Evolution of Possible, and rolling out the 2013 program across 14 additional cities in Western Canada. Employees have signed up to do it all again, this time with more ambitious charity and fitness goals in their sites.

Several employees have committed to The Everest Challenge, a corporate program where employees complete a range of fitness objectives climbing from 'base camp' to the 'summit'. The challenge begins with 5km races progressing through various distances and events including a sprint triathlon and half ironman relay, ultimately culminating with the employee completing a full 42.2km marathon to 'summit' the mountain.

Team Calgary is focusing on 4 charities, contributing throughout the year to the Special Olympics, Canadian Cancer Society, Make a Wish Foundation and Unicef.

In 2014 you will find avenue living athletes achieving their goals across Western Canada from 5km walks to 50km Ultramarathons. Some have even scheduled races in Hawaii and California. Long or short, near or far, the point as always is that employees are stepping outside their comfort zones and achieving goals they never thought possible all while contributing to a charity community of their choice. An empowering feeling well worth a couple of sore muscles the morning after race day!
